What Is a Thigh Lift Surgery?

Thigh lift is the surgical removal of excess, loose skin and underlying fat tissue in the area starting from the groin area and extending to the inner part of the leg. Inner thigh skin losing its firmness over time; It causes legs to rub against each other while walking, difficulty in choosing clothes, and loss of form. The operation narrows the thigh area, making the leg anatomy proportional to the rest of the body.

Who Is a Suitable Candidate for Thigh Lift Surgery?

    • People with Significant Weight Loss: People who have intense skin sagging in the inner thighs after gastric sleeve (bariatric) surgery or diet/exercise.
    • Those with Friction and Rash Problems: Those who suffer from diaper rash, irritation and walking difficulties due to the contact of the inside of their upper legs.
    • Individuals with Decreased Skin Elasticity: Those who experience loosening and wavy appearance in the inner leg skin due to age.
    • Those whose weight is stable: Candidates who have reached their ideal weight and have not experienced weight fluctuations in the last 6 months.
    • Those with Suitable General Health Conditions: Individuals who do not have any health problems that prevent anesthesia and the surgery process.

How Is a Thigh Lift Surgery Performed?

The operation is performed under general anesthesia and takes an average of 2 - 3.5 hours, depending on the extent of the sagging.

    Planning:

During an outpatient examination, the amount of skin to be removed and the incision line are drawn with precision.

    Combination with Liposuction:

If there is fatty tissue causing thickness in the leg, first VASER or standard liposuction is applied to reduce the fat volume and free the skin.

    Selection of Surgical Technique:

    * Incision at the groin crease (Inner Thigh Lift): If the sagging is limited to the uppermost part of the thigh, the incision is hidden in the groin crease and the skin is stretched upwards and stitched.

    * Vertical (Vertical/T Incision) Thigh Lift: If the sagging extends to the middle of the leg or to the knee, the incision starts from the groin and extends vertically along the inner part of the leg; Excess tissue is removed circularly.

    Closure and Medical Corset:

The incisions are closed with aesthetic stitches and the patient is dressed in a special leg corset to support tissue harmony.

Will There Be Scarring After a Thigh Lift Surgery?

As with all surgeries that involve the removal of excess skin, a surgical scar remains after a thigh lift procedure. The location and progression of the scar are as follows:

    • Hidden Groin Scar: In mild cases, the incision is completely hidden within the groin line and underwear line.
    • Vertical Inner Leg Scar: In cases of severe sagging, the scar remains on the inside of the leg. This scar is not directly visible when viewed from the front or from behind, but is only noticeable when the leg is examined from the inside.
    • Healing Process: The scars, which are visible in the first months, mature within 6-12 months and become a pale line close to the skin color. The use of special scar creams and silicone tape supports the process.
