    What Is a Breast Lift?

Breast lift (mastopexy) is the process of removing excess skin and moving the sagging breast tissue and the nipple (areola) to a higher position according to the required anatomy. The primary goal of this surgery is to obtain an aesthetic and youthful appearance by recovering the existing tissue rather than increasing the volume. If the patient's breast volume is insufficient, this procedure can be combined with silicone implant (prosthesis) application.

Who Is a Suitable Candidate for Breast Lift Surgery?

    • Those with sagging and discharge in breast tissue after weight loss, pregnancy or breastfeeding
    • Those whose nipple (areola) points downward or falls below the level of the inframammary fold
    • Those who have lost elasticity and sagging of the breast skin
    • Yer çekimi ve yaşlanmaya bağlı olarak form kaybı yaşayanlar
    • Individuals whose general health condition does not constitute an obstacle to surgery, who have completed their development and have realistic expectations

How Is a Breast Lift Surgery Performed?

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia, with surgical techniques determined according to the degree of prolapse, and takes an average of 2-3 hours:

    Technique and Incision Planning:

    * T-Incision (Inverted T): Preferred for cases involving significant sagging and excess skin; the incision is made around the nipple, along a vertical line, and along the inframammary fold (the crease under the breast).

    * Periareolar Incision (Around the Nipple): An incision made solely around the nipple, used for cases of mild sagging.

    Shaping and Relocation:

Excess skin tissue is removed, sagging breast tissue is moved upwards and reshaped, and the nipple is brought to its ideal position.

    Closing:

The incisions are closed with aesthetic and hidden stitches and supported with a medical bandage and special bra.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Will there be any scarring after a breast lift surgery?

As with every surgical intervention, certain scars remain. However, since the incisions are made along anatomical boundaries such as the nipple area or the under-breast fold, the scars lose their visibility over time, approach the skin color and are hidden under the bra/bikini.

Will sagging occur again after the surgery?

The shape achieved through surgery remains stable for many years. However, gravity, the aging process, significant weight fluctuations, or subsequent pregnancies may lead to some degree of loosening in the breast tissue.

Does a breast lift surgery interfere with breastfeeding?

In the surgical techniques applied, milk ducts and nerve tissues are preserved as much as possible. However, since some techniques preferred in cases of advanced sagging may affect the risk, it is important for patients planning a future pregnancy to mention this to the doctor during the examination.

How long is the recovery period and when can I return to social life?

Patients are usually discharged 1-2 days after surgery and can return to desk jobs within 7-10 days. To support the healing process, it is recommended to use a special protective bra and avoid heavy exercises for approximately 4-6 weeks.
