What Is Piezo Rhinoplasty (Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty)?

Piezo rhinoplasty (ultrasonic rhinoplasty); It is a modern nose shaping method in which special devices that produce ultrasonic (sound) waves are used instead of the hammers, chisels and files used in traditional surgeries. The biggest feature of Piezo technology is that it is selective: The device only affects hard bone tissue; It does not cause any damage to the surrounding soft tissues such as mucosa, capillaries, nerves and cartilages. In this way, the nasal bone is cut and shaped millimetrically without breaking it.

Piezo rhinoplasty surgery is a comfortable process performed in precise stages:

Preliminary Consultation and Design:

A personalized surgery plan is made by analyzing the patient's facial proportions, expectations and respiratory problems.

Anesthesia:

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia so that the patient feels completely comfortable and safe.

Contouring with a Piezo Device:

The nasal bones are reached with the open technique rhinoplasty approach. Using piezo tips, the nasal bone is cut millimetrically, corrected and repositioned. Cartilage structures are shaped.

Completion:

After the procedure is completed, silicone splints that allow breathing are placed inside the nose and a light protective splint is placed on the back of the nose. The operation takes an average of 2.5 – 3.5 hours.

Recovery Process

Thanks to the tissue-friendly approach offered by ultrasonic technology, the healing period is very comfortable:

First 48 Hours: Keeping the head elevated and applying cold compresses (ice application) is sufficient to keep mild edema under control. Severe bruising is not observed as in traditional surgeries.
Week 1: The protective splint and silicone tampons on the nose are usually removed on the 7th day. At this stage, patients can easily return to their work or school lives.
First Month: Heavy sports, steam bath, sauna and exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided.
Full Recovery: Most of the edema in the nose disappears quickly in the first few weeks. It takes between 6 months and 1 year for the nose to take its full shape and for the tissues to settle.
